By Marisol Gaspar

Edwin Layug Sculptures and Design was built in the year 1995. Edwin Layug owner of the wood works shop started his own business at the age of 29. He started his passion at the age of 11, through the supervision and influence of his father and brother on their business way back then.

He once helped his brother on his business named Betis Galeria that served as his job, before establishing his own. Due to the demand of income, Layug with his wife and his two sons, started to settle and later on established their own business - in Saints, sculpturing and designing. It was named next to his name - Edwin Layug Sculptures and Design.

“Kahit anong business kapag bagong bukas, matumal”

Business is a gamble. It takes one step at a time before reaching the top, and that doesn’t work overnight. They do not own any physical shop unlike others before. But because of his posts on social media specifically in Facebook they became known online. Demand for orders increases every Holy Week and is stable the rest of the days.

Even without the physical store, their sculptures lies inside their house as per seen in the photos.

As time passes by, his family grows, same with his business. Mr. Edwin had his two daughters next to his sons who displayed interest to their business.

Mr. Edwin at the age of 50 can say that their business now is well-established and has its stable income.

“… (my inspiration) pamilya ko (and) mga anak ko.”

In every man’s success is an inspiration and motivating force behind. In Mr. Edwin’s story, it all started with the will to help his father, became his hobby turned passion and now is the main source for his own family. That passion serves as the bread and butter of their lives. His motivation was his passion behind his family as an inspiration.
